Teacher Boycott

K-12 Testing

Teachers in Australia have threatened to boycott the trials of a national test in mathematics to be held in early 1998. The federal government plans new national exams for students in grades 3 and 5. The Australian Education Union has said its members will boycott the tests if they are used to rank schools rather than to identify areas needing more resources. However, a national literacy test for next year has apparently been accepted by teachers.
