Help FairTest Honor Diane Ravitch

The Board and staff of FairTest thank you for your help in stopping the rampant misuse and overuse of standardized testing.  Though this effort remains a challenge, public anger has reached new heights, providing renewed hope for winning major change.

FairTest will honor one of our most powerful allies, Diane Ravitch, with this year’s Deborah W. Meier Heroes in Education award. Deborah will present the award to Diane at a ceremony on Tuesday evening, June 5, in New York City.

Prof. Ravitch was an early proponent of using standardized exams to hold schools accountable. But she was willing to evaluate the evidence of the consequences of high-stakes testing. When she did, she reversed her earlier position. Through her Bridging Differences blog with FairTest Board member Deborah Meier, her powerful best-selling book, The Death and Life of the Great American School System, and her tireless speaking and writing, Diane has become a vital and leading national voice for sanity in testing.

We hope you will be able to join us in honoring Diane Ravitch. For more information and to download a ticket order form or to place an ad in the event program, please see this page.

If you are unable to attend, you can make a donation in honor of Diane and Debbie here.

Your financial support helps keep FairTest strong so we can lead campaigns such as initiating the new National Resolution on High Stakes Testing and expanding the list of test-optional colleges (see articles, this issue).
