Diane Ravitch to Receive FairTest's "Deborah W. Meier Hero in Education" Award

At a reception and ceremony on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at the Julia Richman Education Complex in Manhattan, New York City, FairTest will honor Diane Ravitch for her longtime commitment and contribution to public education, especially to educational equity.

An influential thinker, speaker, historian, and author, Ravitch has written 10 books, edited/co-edited 14 others, and penned more than 500 articles and reviews in popular and professional publications. Her most recent book is titled, The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education (2010).

Deborah Meier will present the award to Diane Ravitch, and both will speak.
